Instantly Bound
WORLD PREMIERE 2013
Olivier Wevers
Klimek Ezekiel Honig Johann Johannsson

The Wilma Theater

How do we handle the jolt of instantaneous death? How do you make sense from the chaos and how do you reconcile the unforgivable? Instantly Bound is inspired by loss – but also by the birth of the accidental community formed by the people who have been touched by such tragedy.

Press Reviews
"Olivier Wevers’s Instantly Bound proved that conceptual dance can be just as political as it is artful."
BROAD STREET REVIEW

"The dance communicated the urgency, agony, and confusion of an event, its immediate impact, and its aftermath through choreography filled with creative weight-bearing in which dancers would lift, push, and find themselves entangled with one another as they moved in and out of shadows cast by a single spotlight."
BROAD STREET REVIEW

"Wevers took a number of simple motifs and worked them into a magical spell: dancers rolling both over and under one another, then a repetitive hunched shoulder roll with a one, two, one, two, three beat that became both a funerary lament and a sign of camaraderie amongst the undead."
